He dicho que iba a hacer un post sobre paris, pero… (27-2-11)
I said I was going to do a post about Paris, but I went to the Canary Islands with my host family before that, so we’ll start there.
This is going to be mostly pictures too
A street performer from Sevilla. He was pretty good actually, and really friendly. He said he was looking for work as an entertainer in on of the maaany hotels in the area.
Where we ate lunch after we met the street performer. Paz and Tony were saying how many foreigners come to the Canary Islands to vacation, and we heard a ton of people speaking German, French and British English.

Eating paella at Paz and Tony’s favorite restaurant. Tony’s aunt used to dance Flamenco in the Canary Islands, so she’s friends with a lot of people at the restaurant, and Tony is too. They were all talking with her one the phone and laughing about how much time had passed.
Paz chillin’, eating the salad the next day. We ate in the same restaurant each day for lunch.
PPlaying with camera settings. I just like this picture haha. You can see some of the restaurant too.

The lighthouse on Gran Canaria.

That morning we went swimming :) The water is so much clearer that that of the Jersey shore…. which is disgusting if you´ve never been lol

The favorite picture I took! A lot of playing with my camera, but still. This is in the upity area, where all the shops are Dolce and Gabana, and Fendi, things like that. They bought Alberto cologne from one of the huuuge makeup stores.
another pretty picture haha. The Canary Islands are really gorgeous. And it doesn’t hurt that it was about 20 degrees hotter there than Madrid.

One of the little towns we went to before heading back to the airport.

Really good potatoes that we ate everywhere. They’re a typical canary dish.
This church is right beside the restaurant where we stopped to eat the potatoes and have a drink. It´s huge, old, and gorgeous :)
We had a lot of trouble getting to the Canaries with the air strike and all (The air traffic controllers decided that they weren´t getting paid enough when they get paid a lot lot lot more than basically everyone in Spain. So we lost a day of our vacation, but we ended up going to my tutor´s house for dinner. The dinner was amazing, Carlos is a really good cook.
That´s the canaries! They´re cool, the islands. They all speak with a different accent, and don´t pronounce the c´s or z´s like the mainland. (I recently learned, however, that many of the mainlanders don´t pronounce them either. Depends where you´re from, and what your natural language is, since there´s Catalán, Gallego, Castellano, and Basco.) My google is in spanish right now, and at the bottom of the screen it offers the other three, since it´s set in Catalán.
