Enero- un resumen muy pequeño (11-2-11)
New years in Spain is the coolest thing. In Spanish class in the US we did the whole ¨eat 12 grapes¨ thing, but in Spain it´s true haha. We went to a friend of Paz´s house for the New Year´s dinner and the party after. The theme was black and red, so everyone and everything was decorated haha.

Paz curled my hair :)

The cutest little girl that was in love with me haha

Paz taking the seeds out of her grapes

All the grapes were separated earlier in the day (Paz and I helped with this) and they were all organized in aluminum foil so that everyone has 12. When it’s almost midnight, they turn on the tv and a count down comes on, telling you when you have to eat your grapes. it’s great haha then they have a ball like the one in time square that drops. it’s a lot smaller though, but it’s in Sol, the time square of Madrid.

later they set off fireworks :)
After the family parties, the kids usually go off with their friends.
In my neighborhood we have these things called locals. It’s basically a huge lot where you rent an empty room and fill it with whatever you want. Normally people just put in a few chairs, maybe a couch, a table, and a reallly good sound system. The best thing about the locals is that there are bascialy always parties going on, and more than just a few.
Clearly, on new years, alllll of the locals have parties going on. I know about 6 people with their own local, and then all of my other friends know more people, so if you’re going to new years at a local, its like going to 30 different parties at once haha

A few of the locals.
I ended up not getting home till 7, and there were still a ton of people there dancing when i left.
The rest of January was pretty calm in comparison haha

Went to visit some creepy abandoned houses…
I went to Paris in the beginning of January, but I have to go to bed, so I’ll make that another post tomorrow.
Besos!
