"But how will you learn math?!"

My name's Leigh Brownell, and I'm a Rotary exchange student in Spain for the 2010-2011 year!

Esto se llama “no he escrito nada hace MUCHO tiempo” (11/2/10)

tumblr! I haven’t written ANYTHING in two months! So cool.

Okay, I’m going to break it down into different posts because a whole lot lot lot has happened.

this one is called:

CHRISTMAS

or december in general.

Okay, run through:

We went to 2 musicals, 40 Principales y Los Miserables. Les mis is soo cool in Spanish, mostly because it’s closer to French. The songs are all more beautiful, even though I was bummed I couldn’t follow them as well.

Cuarenta Principales with Alberto, Tony and Paz. (This is Alberto, my brother)

Side note! I went had to give a bunch of speeches in Spanish, and this is from one of them. We went to the Christmas dinner of a different club, and had to tell a little about where we were from.

My jacket is border-line full, and i’m planning on sewing flags on the back.

Los Miserables with my whole family. Fernando y Ines, my grandparents, Alberto, Me, Tony, and Paz taking the picture

okay, now christmas

Christmas in Spain is really cool. It’s ALL about eating, of course. My whole family came over a few of the days, and my Aunt and Uncle and Cousin who live in Murcia (far souther Spain) came to stay for a few days. We went on vueltas around Madrid to show them around, and visited La Plaza Mayor, Cortilandia, and a bunch of other stuff.

This is Cortilandia :D

All of us in La Plaza Mayor! (before we bought our cool hats)

after the cool hats

The pictures aren’t going to be in much of an order haha

Our christmas dinner!

Walking around the mall H2Ocio in Rivas

At my Rotary club’s christmas dinner! We all had to get up and sing a christmas song, but the best part is that no one ever knows all the lyrics. So we all had to huddle around the paper to sing the song. Another exchange student Analise sang, and she has the Preeettiest voice :)

Back to Christmas with the family

Watching movies :] and evveryone fell asleep haha minus me of course

The next days lunch, where both my other aunt, uncle, and cousins came over.

very full table haha

Spain decorates all the streets for Christmas, so every street in Madrid is decked-OUT. Basically all the towns and pueblos do it too, but a lot smaller.

post chrismas!

hanging out with my friend irene

playing pool at the mall with irene and isabel (and ana and monica but they aren’t in the picture haha)

And that’s december!
