Well I’m here! Everything with my fl,ights went really really smoothly. When I left from Philadelphia I sat next to this nice old couple, Betty and Chuck. They were both so nice, though Betty did near all the talking while Chuck would start a story and let Betty finish it. They were so sweet !
I get to Heathrow. Wow. If you think you’ve been to a big airport, you haven’t. I was a little worried when my terminal had been changed, but immediately hopped on a bus to T3 instead of T1 (then realized I probably should have asked someone… but too late!). Everything turned out fine, and I was able to check in right away and my gate had already been announced. We left at 7:45 and got in around 10:45 like planned. (The flight was just two hours though, there’s an hour time change between London and Madrid.)
My only real freak out was when the luggage was taking forever, and I wanted to call my host family to tell them I was here; I couldn’t read the phone after I found it… So I guess that’s my first language barrier moment. The phone was really far from my baggage carousel too so that was a little scary. But I got my baggage right when I came back and rolled myself out to see Paz, Tony, and Paz’s parents. After besos y fotos, Paz and I climbed in one car and Tony and the others in their car.
Busy first day! We went to see Alberto, then went to the house to unpack my bags, then Paz Tony and I went out to lunch, (Italian. I had Pizza and some other appetizer, I forget haha everything was great though I couldn’t finish) went home to get the dogs, (they needed baths apparently), went to the local government, (I remember this word, I do! Just not right now…), then went to pick up the dogs again, then came home where I think I took a nap, then dinner, and then I passed out. (If anyone was wondering, no: I was not able to sleep at all on the plane. Que lastima, si?)
Today I woke up around 9 and wanted to shower, so I had to have Paz show me how it works, then have Alberto come in and do it again haha. Everyone is so nice though. There is so much love within this family and I really love it here. Today we’re going to visit Paz’s niece in another town. I’ll be sure to write the name down when she says it again. I’ve been taking pictures too, but my camera cord is…. somewhere. So I’ll load them later.
Hope all is well at home! I need to dry my hair and get dressed :]
